Some Grunge for the Lord of the Manor

I have been collecting the tarot cards that Lost Coast Designs has and this dapper Lord of the Non-Linear Thoughts became my focal point on an A4 sized card. I used the 3 inch Grunge Border using the parts to catch the tire treads since after all it is one for the men and boys so also their toys:)  Distress Inks watered down on glass made up my background with the number "3" mirrored from the card stenciled with a Dylusions stencil with inks.  I stamped the card portion separately and attached to the front after inking it down to go with the grunge look of the card.  Now what non-linear thoughts are I have no idea but in my mind linear translated to lines so on went 3 (of course) round eyelets.  I will Google it after writing this up so I will know next time....learning everyday still!

Lost Coast Designs Christmas in July Event

Well, we got all excited about Halloween with Half-of-ween and Skellie Fest, now it's time to get excited about Christmas!  And I need to start in July to be ready for December so good idea and now feeling all hot and muggy and Christmasy :)  So to get a jump on the tree thing I made a tag ornament with the friendly Waving Santa from Carmen's Veranda, check one thing off the list!  I used a wooden tag from the dollar store and covered with some Dylusions paints and brick stencil and added some "25's" then added some red paper at the bottom for the sentiment from Party Words found at Lost Coast Designs.  I stamped  Christmas Lights  on top of the bricks, the lights are also Carmen's Veranda.. Colored the lights and Santa with markers, fussy cut Santa out and glued to the tag. Some bling and lots of glitter bead paste with some snowflakes with a gel pen and the string for him to hang on the tree and greet folks.

I hope you will join us at the  Lost Coast Portal to Creativity for all the news about Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda!  Plus our monthly challenge and all the events and information and rules for your chance to win at the Portal so give yourself an early Christmas present and win with us!

Happy Birthday Mama

Well, we will be spending Mama's birthday in the hospital, but while she is sleeping I decided I could still make something for her digitally since my stash is all at home!  Not one drop of glue nor scissors do I have with me.....not enough room in the bag I packed.  So to help me out I grabbed the Showcase Sunday Freebie from Dragons Lair Designs Inspiration Blog.  To help our with not having my pictures handy I  am having to make do with a freebie picture from Red Lead that looks just like my mama's baby pic ;)  This is a 'Taste of Summer' and can be found HERE at the Inspiration Blog.

So, hospital or no, we will be together and celebrate her 74th bday...shhh, I did not leak that info!  It will be the naughty step for me for sure!

You can gather up freebies and challenges and  prize vouchers to spend at the Dragons Lair Designs Store, too, and make a memory in just a few minutes that you will treasure for a lifetime.  And busy moms, don't let those special times slip past without that awesome photo you snapped not being given a place of honor with such ease to type out the details you want to remember forever.  Digital scrapbooking is a wonderful way to do this and you have the joy of a scrapbook with the ease of storage on your computer and the bonus of printing them out when you have that rare minute to have a scrapbook to hold!  I sure wish this had been around when my kids were babies...so many little details get forgotten as the memory gets so chock full of details.

We'd love to have you join us in our Fan Group and post up some pictures of any creations you make using any DLD items.

Haunted House at Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda

Note; I just realized this didn't publish so the event is past but here are my details!

It's Half-of-Ween at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity and that means halfway point to Halloween!  All of my stamps were levitating out of their folders to get a chance to play...they can't wait until Halloween either!  So here they are first from Lost Coast Designs: Skull with Wings, Murder of Crows, ATC Grunge Background, Crow Border,, and now, Carmen's Veranda: Small Witches, Three Trees, and Large Skeleton Shrine. They all gathered together to form a haunted house to play at until the happy month gets here :)

And a what if?  What if....good old Alfred had been inspired after watching the Oz bunch instead of some birds?  Yep, then we would have had the much more terrifying "The Monkeys" coming into YOUR theater soon!

All coming at ya from Carmen's Veranda (except for one small crossover from Oz that landed at Lost Coast Designs: Wizard of Oz set 2 Alfred Hitchcock Standing, Three Trees, Flying Monkeys Background

Check out all the details at the Portal and get in on the fun!  And please remember our challenge this and come play with us!

Some Late Play with Sugar Brights Collection

As many of you know, I am sadly having to deal with my mom being diagnosed with lung cancer, the same evil disease that took my dad 5 months ago.  Never ever imagined this all happening so close together, well, never imagined it to be totally honest.  I  am trying to take some time while she is resting to color some and tonight while she is in the hospital I am doing some digital work.  Things that I can easily stop and pick up as the time demands it but enough to help with  the anxiety and depression that comes with being a caregiver to a loved one.

The amazing design team at Dragons Lair Designs had a wonderful blog hop where the participants were rewarded with a piece of the Sugar Brights Collection (and it is in the pound section!)  at each stop ending up with the whole collection!  It is a beautiful and bright kit with lots of awesome summery elements to it.  As I was unable to participate with my teamies I wanted to have a go with it tonight.

How sunny is this?  Love, love the sunflowers!  The links below will take you to the magic of Dragons Lair Designs where challenges, our store, and lots of inspiration await you....even FREEBIES!  Yes, every Sunday the talented Janette, our leader and creator of all things Dragons Lair, has a Showcase Sunday that includes a challenge and a freebie for all who visit!  As a matter of fact, I think I will have a play with today's freebie next!

http://stampingwithdragon.blogspot.co.uk/

Please stop by our Dragons Lair Designs Challenge Blog for June where the theme is 'One for the Men".  There is a prize voucher to spend at the Dragons Lair Designs Store for our winner that Mr. Random Generator graciously chooses for us!

May Challenge is Here at Dragons Lair Designs

Time to come play again with us at our challenge at Dragon's Lair Designs and our theme is "Working Women".  This is as we women know means ALL women!  So we want to see your interpretation of this theme be as creative as you want that is what it is all about!

I used the Florence Kit and it is soooo pretty and vintage and elegant looking. So many fun ways to use it but I  am in the hospital with my Mom with limited resources so a digital make in her honor is what I  have today.

We do hope you will come let us visit your blog and be inspired by your make. You can find the challenge HERE just drop off at the linky.

May Challenge at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity

Our theme this month is #24 Splash of Color (use a neon or bright color) at Lost Coast Designs and we hope everyone who played in April will join us again this month!  And thanks to all who did play and let us visit their blogs and be inspired by them (that's YOU) :)  So get your neon/brights on and get inky and messy! One little reminder....please make sure your makes have rubber stamping on them. A sentiment stamped works great if you have a digital image you really want to use!

I just love this stamp so vintage and I had the luck of catching the library book sale and got a "Modern Business Speller" copyright 1901 with handwritten study notes so of course I had to stamp "Spread Your Wings and Fly"  on a page from the book.  She looks like she wouldn't have been at home at a typewriter but who knows?

You know the next bit..it is your turn to show us what you can splash some color on and we can't wait to see so jump HERE and enter!  Please check out the Portal linky below as we have some wonderful events coming up..shhh! I didn't say a word!

May's Challenge at Rhedd's Creative Spirit

I saw and swooned over the Pebeo paint line long after it had first come out...behind as usual!  I
found a bargain on the Moon and Prism starter set and have had them for months with just one little play with them for a make for this challenge, ironic :)  This time I started with one idea on an old outdated key holder and had mermaids swimming in my head and this happened:

I had to get my son to photo and edit it for me the shine and shimmer is unreal on this thing!  I did the background and used a bunch of colors and let them swirl a bit and then the paint did it's magic!  I free handed a mermaid shape on acrylic paint paper and put the paints adding some red for her hair. I also added some gold mica flakes to her tail then let dry and cut her out and glued her to the background. The some pretty blue beads, the "water bubbles", and shells from my beach in Alabama. I absolutely love her!  I so wish it would photo better but the amount of shine going on is crazy! I know it looks like my photography work :) but I promise my son who has a photography book published and had a photo of his used in another author's book for the cover (yes, bursting with pride, old Mom is!) took this one!

Come play with us at Rhedd's Creative Spirit this month!  We have such a good time!

Cracked Wisdom

Hope you are enjoying our Cracked Critters Event at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity!  I have a wise Cracked Owl from the Mini Cracked Critters Set One from Lost Coast Designs and he is the star of my card :)  Forgive the pun!

An A2 kraft card with star cut out and red paper behind with the owl stamped.  I stamped the owl again on white paper and colored with watercolor pencils before gluing on the stamped red paper.  A flower embellie to serve as a closure for the twine to wrap around and he is ready to give out his words of wisdom.

As always check out the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity for the rest of the teams makes and all the info about upcoming events and the new challenge will be starting soon for May!

Cracked Critter Event at Lost Coast Designs Portal to Creativity

The fabulously funny Cracked Critters at Lost Coast Designs are based on the cracks in sidewalks and the things you can see in them like the clouds.  I have made many humorous projects with them but today's make is based on a true quote about friends.  I made a little accordion fold book with the Cracked Owl, Cracked Chicken, and Cracked Yak.  They just all seem like they would be great friends so I found a quote I love to go with the book.

The cover and back are cardboard from a food box covered with a digital paper from Dragons Lair Designs "Artistic Expressions" collection and stamped with the Cracked Tree, Cracked Grass, and Cracked Sky.  I made the title tag in Photoshop.

Book opened up

I used another paper from the same collection to stamp the images on then glued the fussy cut, colored stamps on top of the stamped image. The book is folded kraft cardstock sprinkled with Nuance Powders sprayed with water and the edges inked with Distress Inks. This is the Cracked Owl, she looks so wise, well, I think she is a girl anyway :)

The Cracked Yak is fab, too!

And finishing with the great Cracked Chicken :)
Check out my teamies makes at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity and find all the details about the event.  And keep up with all the info and challenges!
