Midway Post for Ike's World Challenge Spring Inspiration Photo for April

Hi all!  I am back and delighted to be attempting to catch up on almost ten weeks of recuperating from a fall down the stairs.  My arm is healing nicely in all the broken parts :)  Now for Ike's World Challenge for April using a Spring Inspiration Photo!  I had so much fun working on this; it was nice to be inking and coloring up again!

Some background papers in soft pink and background stamps in green ink with some butterflies made a nice home for the pocket to hold my seed packets.  The Seed images from Ike's Art were colored with Touch New Markers and inked with Distress Inks.  A twine box in green made the last touch. Oh the gorgeous green background paper is a digital paper from Dragons Lair Designs that I printed out and is called Watercolor Papers set.

Uh, Santa, You Over Slept!

Santa, Santa?  Did you forget your calendar and smart phone???  Well, Santa went to the Grand Caymans because of his tiring journey last December 24th and kicked off his shoes and fur and ordered a rum punch!  I am playing at Ike's World Challenge #101 Anything Goes with a twist of Let it Snow (Winter, Christmas) and I went with Christmas a little island style!  This awesome image is a freebie that Ike of Ike's Art so nicely just gives to you to play with!  

I used Spectrum Noir markers for the scene and tried some really terrible watercolor pencils for the sky that is best just not talked about ;)   I embossed the blue paper with technically tiny flowers but in my world last night they were snowflakes.  I die cut three ornaments from glitter paper...yep, I am still sparkling!  The sentiment was made in Photoshop.

Hope Santa gets a move on or it might be a blue Christmas for sure!

SUYP Challenge #24 Furrything Goes!

I have missed playing at the SUYP Challenge way to many times so new resolution starts now!  The challenge is all about kitties so if you love cats and fur balls then this is the place to play!  I used a freebie image so graciously given by the talented Ike of Ike's Art because as you know my computer went kerplunk and my external hard drive which has a TON of Ike's images is still lost in my parent's apartment.  Tomorrow maybe I will go on a full blown hunt of it as I am missing a lot of stuff to play with because it is hard to download anything anywhere from a smashed screen computer!  On to the scene now!

You know how some folks are hard to buy gifts for?  Not KookyKat!  He simply wants it all and just knows that box is holding far more than it's size would lead him to believe!  I used Dylusions paint to make a very loose version of a Christmas tree and then I made the mistake!  NEVER put glitter on a project first even if you think sprinkling it on the wet paint is smart!  I finally had to use my handy dandy bathroom silicone in white to stick stuff down and while it was out I snowed up the tree!  Ornaments punched from some colorful paper and stuck in said to ground this little guy's feet down.  Then my toothbrush (an old one, please) and some water downed acrylic white paint and some flicks on the bristles and it began to snow.  If you use craft paint it is just about the right consistency to use straight out of the bottle, I had to water mine down a bit because it was heavy bodied paint. Last step was to paint a little star on top of his tree.  And first step was to color him up first using Spectrum Noir markers but he was very flat so I went over again with some darker gray Prisma colored pencils.  Oh, and his hat and present I just drew and stuck on his head and between his paws.  The sentiment is just made in Photoshop.

Hope all the kitties out there are happy and waiting on Santa with their very nonchalant look!

January Anything Goes Poe!

I started the new year off with a shared win with the awesome Susan Renshaw at Quoth the Raven, Nevermore Challenge for December!  My poor humble offering paled in the light of Susan's awesome, super make but I was allowed to share the win of which I am grateful to the amazing Ike , of Ike's Art and Susan!  This month I kinda went in reverse for the new year a bit.  I was moving my crafting spot and decided to deconstruct some past projects as they were piling up fast!  One was an altered book for Quoth the Raven and had some actual dictionary pages from the old dictionary I used to make the book and I carefully removed them treasuring them too much to cover them up or throw them away.  Then a wonderful surprise from another win at Quoth the Raven, an altered puzzle piece by Black Dragon had inspired me so much and I found a huge puzzle piece during the move so this was what resulted!

The clay crow and background piece of page paper came from the altered book torn apart but now for a good purpose!  The dear man himself is a Rick St. Dennis image, Poe 2 and he was found cut out, uncolored and I left him that way.  However, all things I make concerning his face seem to humiliate him so much as did the tassel found on a box I had "altered" long before knowing what altering meant :) The tag is stamped with an awesome stamp from VivalasvegaStamps! and then edged with a Dylusions spider web border stamp. I sprayed it with gold shimmer spray from Lindy's Stamp Gang.  The odd thing sticking out is an egg carton rose/flower edged in black and some gold shimner spray also.  It looses its effect from this view but then maybe it comes from one of the Master's works? Hmmm, I will never tell, nor will he, even though that tassel is annoying him beyond even his words!  A little moon from a half used sticker kit and the backing is some gold and black patterned paper run through the embossing machine and edged with black soot Distress Ink.  So that altered book and little box of 20 something years live on now in this new piece until the time comes for it to give up its parts for a new beginning!

A Pocket Full of POEsies at Quoth the Raven

It's time for challenge #50 at Quoth the Raven and the theme is "POEsies - a floral theme".  I decided to take the challenge quiet literally and made a tissue paper flower stamped with "Nevermore" from Viva Las VegaStamps! all throughout it.  And the center of course is dear Poe, looking not too happy about my decision!  Then a pocket cut from a fabulous raven sheet from Ike's Art with some stitching with a Sharpie and glued down on a piece of black cardstock.
