#artifacts Journal Project of Seth Apter's

I signed on for the #artifacts journaling project for 2017 proposed by Seth Apter which much trepidation!  I am not known for my journaling skills but after a very emotionally draining 2016 thought that getting some things down on paper with art might help me on my way to healing.  So I am giving it a try although very far behind; I do enjoy the time I spend on it.  This month my page that spoke to me most was made with a pair of gorgeous rainbow eyes painted in acrylics on a canvas by the Art Sherpa on Youtube.  They seem to represent the tears of sadness and joy that have come my way in the last year and a half.

They also remind me of how people we know and strangers watch our journeys and make their own decisions about how we should and should not act.  This page seemed to sum it all up with a beautiful pair of eyes as the prize.  I used acrylic paints, stencils, washi stamp, die cuts and stamps.

I took this out of my 3 ring binder to photo it but it is now in place with my next favorite page that is a reminder of a cruise in February of 2016.  Watercolors and acrylic washes and layers.

And finishing up with another water motivated page...watch out little crab that octopus looks a bit hungry and already has a sticky tentacle on you!!  Watercolor paints, stencils and octopus die cut.

Hope you will join the quest plenty of time to catch up or start now....no rules!  One of my favorite things about it!

That's it for June!  Have a great July and journal it :)

Uh Oh! Oddleigh Mockingbird is Keeping LeighSBDesigns Awake Again!

The fantastic Leigh of LeighSBDesigns has had a little mockingbird problem for a couple of years now.  And this guy loves to keep her awake at night and has actually followed her during the day!  Yep, stalker mockinbird!  Well, meet Oddleigh Mockingbird, released with Lil Miss Oddleigh Dreaming of Sleep!

He comes with 4 digis, a cluster of 2 stars, a pile of fallen Zzzzz's, floating Zzzzz's that are hollow so you can make them any colour you want plus the same Zzzzz's in solid black too.

Those darts will keep your eyes wide open until dawn as I know for a fact!  Sleep and I have a terrible relationship!  I colored him with Prisma colored pencils and then used acrylic paint in purple and blue to give him a dark of the night look.  The Z's are colored with Spectrum Noir markers with lines added with a white gel pen.  Also used the gel pen to add some twinkle stars.

Check out the store of LeighSBDesigns at Etsy and see all of her awesome images!  This wonderful fellow is on sale for a short while so run carefully don't walk to get him and all the images that come with him!

Meet a Very Sleepy Lil Miss Oddleigh Dreaming of Sleep from LeighSBDesigns!

YAWN!  Never has a digital image reminded me of myself as much as Lil Miss Oddleigh Dreaming of  Sleep by LeighSBDesigns!  This fabulous image comes with three digital images!  And my fondness for her is our shared lack of sleep!  Apparently we both suffer from horrible insomnia so I have found my mirror image :)

She comes with 2 digis, a cluster of 4 stars and a thought bubble full of sleepy Zzzzzz's.

I colored her up with Prisma colored pencils and fussy cut leaving a small white line.  I used a piece of paper made for acrylic paints to paint a galaxy background (thanks Art Sherpa) and the zzz's bubble is Spectrum Noir markers with a Q-Tip dipped in alcohol to make some spots.  A white gell pen to make some really big sparkle stars and she is ready for a long night of no sleep!

I hope you will go by the fabulous shop of LeighSBDesigns at Etsy and check out all of the wonderfulness there and this beauty will be on sale for a short while so don't miss out!

Revisiting Japan!

I was so excited to see Neko the whimsical Japanese cat as a new image by LeighSBDesigns!  I wanted to use some of my gorgeous photos from Japan in November last year and this worked out so well I thought!

Colored with Spectrum Noir markers and scanned into the computer then some magical thingy cut it out for me and I was able to pull it into my picture from Japan!  Magic I tell ya!  I added Japan 2016 with Neko for a nice feeling :)

Please check out the Etsy Store of LeighSBDesigns as new designs are coming and each is more fantastic than the last I do believe!

Twin Mermaids My First Double Canvas Painting!

The Art Sherpa, the fabtastic Cinnamon Cooney, has made me such a happy camper!  I have wanted to paint since I can remember and was going to college when I graduated high school a year early to study art.  But love changed that plan and I married my love of my life a year after graduating never regretting a moment of it!  Now as life has thrown quiet a few darts at me and dealing with them has been such a challenge, painting is my happy place!  And the Art Sherpa has led me to acrylic painting through her tutorials in real time and I am painting one or more painting on most days!  Today I painted the twin mermaids on double canvases and I am in love with it!  A few more tweaks and dots and it will be ready to varnish!

Thanks Cinnamon and Jon for being such awesome, positive influences on my life and so many others!  This canvas has many wishes under the paint and I am now finding I can't start painting without putting in the wishes!

You can find all or some of the Art Sherpa in the links below:

Blog Hop at Sin City Stamps May 3rd -9th!

Just another reminder about the blog hop at Sin City Stamps Inspiration Team Blog going through today until the 9th!  I have already hopped and saw plenty of inspiration!

More from the Angel of Time rubber set!  I like to call this Back to the Future for some reason....haven't watched the movies in years but vaguely remember a train in one?  Anyway I painted the stamped image with Chinese water paints and added some glitter I found in my mom's ceramic stuff she had given me.  Spritzed with some tea spray and attached to a cream sheet with the Roman numerals also included in the set stamped randomly.  Also LOVE the "Inked by:" stamp in the same set that I used in the corner!  A paper rose with numbers and letters on it and it was done.

Don't forget to go to the Sin City Stamps Inspiration Team Blog and go to each blog and leave some love in your comment on their blogs!  They worked hard and deserve a pat on the back!

Horus the Egyptian Cat by LeighSBDesigns Leads Me Toward Another Clue!

As you may know, we on the LeighSBDesign design team have been taking a little walk on the old Egyptian side with its wise and revered cats starting with Cleo.  Cleo's eyes seemed to be telling me she had something of value to share with me.  On my trip looking for clues came up with "walk like and Egyptian" nothing else.  I did not despair just decided to bide my time and see what else came along.  Well, Horus came up or rather clues to where he might be.  And being the excellent clue hunter than I am, I found him!  Or rather his image on an old, frail piece of parchment curled with age bearing his likeness and the words "walk like an Egyptian"!  Now that is two of the same clues one might think or could it be just the insistence that that is the clue and to somehow follow it to what treasures/riches/despair? might lay?  Anyway, here is the scroll I so carefully excavated!

Horus the Egyptian Cat can be found at the Etsy store of LeighSBDesigns along with all of her new releases which are all amazing!  More coming every 3 days so don't forget to keep checking!  And join and like our Facebook Fan Group for some freebies in the photo album section!  Make sure to post your creations to inspire us!

A Little Bit Late Like a Night Owl?

At the Dragons Lair Designs Facebook Fan Page we have a coloring contest where you can request a free digital image and if you color it and put it in the album you can get the image for the next month free again!  And for our loyalty points, if you color and blog your project you get two points!

Yoo Hoo the Owl  the mixed matched eyed little guy says "Don't Worry, Be Happy!" so I agree with him!  Why not?

Sin City Stamps Blog Hop May 3rd!

Make sure you make time tomorrow to check out the fabulous Blog Hop over at Sin City Stamps Inspiration Team where it starts!  Lots of inspiration and fabulous stamps to put on your wish list or toss in your shopping basket!

This awesome set Angel of Time is one of my favorites!  I stamped the image and framed it then stamped and embossed in black the angel and pop dotted her on top of the glass.  The black frame, image and sentiment were all sponged with golden acrylic paint.  The sentiment is also black embossed and layered on some soft pink flowered paper.

Make sure to visit all of the blogs and leave a comment and some love tomorrow or today according to where you live!

Design Team for Delicious Doodles

Last minute I am late so late for a very important date!  Just found out about the DT call at Delicious Doodles the fabulous challenge of Teri Sherman's wonderful images so I am going ninety to nothing to get this in!  First, a little bit about me!  I am by no means amazing or fabulous; I just enjoy creating and being creative in any area! I have done ceramics, sew, paint, color, and stamp.  If it is a craft  I will try it!  I have been on several teams: Lost Coast Designs, Dream in Darkness (co-created it), RSD, Eclectic Ellapu, Rhedd's Creative Spirit, Ike's World Challenge, Quoth the Raven, and Rosey Hearts.  I took care of my mom for 5 months 24/7 as she died with lung cancer in October of last year after loosing my daddy to lung cancer in January of the same year.  We found out on Sunday he had it and Thursday he was gone.  But being mom's caregiver took my crafting time to almost zero although I did keep up with LCD making cards in the hospital while I stayed with her night and day sneaking gauze from the nurses to spruce up a card.  Anyway I left and lost most of my teams and now I am on LeighSBDesigns and am a beginning acrylic artist!  I take Alyce Keegan's coloring monthly lessons in markers and pencils so coloring is something I enjoy practicing and working on.

Here are a few of my favorite projects real quickly!

Thanks, Nan

Pocket Letter Full of Sin City Stamps!

I love pocket letters seeing them done by fabulous crafters but I have only made one in my entire life!  Well to rectify that I have made one full of Anime Fairies and Baby Dragons and Fairy Fantasy Figures from Sin City Stamps.  I used a product from my new favorite bargain hunting Tuesday Morning and  they had 3 colors super cheap so of course had to try them.  They come out just like gallery glass and resist all paints...watercolors and acrylics!  Also ink for stamping so even though it messed with my stamping a wee bit I liked the look and kept on rolling with it!

Now to see who gets the pocket letter!  Hmmm and will they want it LOL!

Good Evening from Mr. Alfred Hitchcock by LeighSBDesigns!

If you look in the mirror and see this man and his pet looking at you.....well, you might want to either check your medications or run!  Run first then explore the other options I would think!  This wonderfully eclectic, realistic image of Alfred Hitchcock is mind blowing to me who can't draw a circle!  Our talented LeighSB is showing us new and wonderful goodies every 3 days until her Etsy store is stocked!  So much to look forward to!

The mirror is from the Tumble Fish Studios at Mischief Circus set called Hotel Hell.  The man of the hour is colored in Spectrum Noir markers.  You can find him at LeighSBDesigns as realistic line art digi stamp of the Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock with his iconic bird perched on his arm.

I loved doing this project so much!  You will see him again in the next few days; I am in no way through with this lovely!

Come join our Facebook Fan Group and grab some freebies from the album section in the photos and show us your take on LeighSBDesigns fabulous images!  We look forward to seeing your work there and do stop and visit the store on Etsy it is just a click away right below or above :)

Time to Walk Like an Egyptian....Cat! Cleo the Egyptian Cat is in the Store Now!

LeighSBDesigns has another new release called Cleo the Egyptian Cat and what an absolute darling she is!  I love the elaborate, fantastic designs that Leigh is coming out with every 3 days ....yep!  every 3 days until her Etsy store is stocked full!  What energy and talent she has!  Here is my offering of Cleo with an archway from the British Library copyright free releases where you can find lots to compliment your stamps and digital images!

To me all the mysteries Cleo has seen through the ages is reflected in those awesome eyes!  A little die cutting of the archway with Tim Holtz's die set and painted with these fabulous multimedia acrylic paints I found at Tuesday Morning!  I just discovered this store I thought it was just home decor and who wants to spend craft money on their home LOL but they have some amazing closeout products that I have never seen in the big three craft stores and at amazing prices!  These paints are translucent and gorgeous in real life!  Not as glorious as Cleo but fit for her regal presence I think!

Don't wait to shop  because new releases are on sale for a short period and you do not want to miss a one of them!  Also on our Facebook Fan Group, we have some freebies for you so grab those and you will be so hooked you will have to have all of the LeighSBDesigns images!

Another Notebook from the Tree of Life Set from Sin City Stamps

I love this set of trees from all leafed out to ready for Halloween!  I bought these really really bright note cards thinking of course that I could use them in some way and ah ha! here it is!  I made another little quick and easy journal/notebook to grab on the way out of the door going to the beach or a festival or bird watching and make my notes on the way home!  The set is Tree of Life 11.

A nice little clip holds it all together with some additional stamping from the Journal Two Set from Sin City Stamps!

Each tree has his own page with some words to keep me motivated to take notes and photos!

I cut some contrasting colors and stamped with the Journal Two Set to make pockets so slip memorabilia in such as ticket stubs and goodies I always find!

Some Sin City Stamps and Tongue Depressor Play

I saw this over a year ago and have wanted to give it a try but only remember when I am in the doctor's office and see his nice wide tongue depressors!  Well, short of lifting a few, I bought some narrower ones from the dollar tree but have found the wide ones at a pharmacy in town so next time more room to work on!  So with tongue in cheek and Sin City Stamps in hand I embarked on a year long awaited journey!

Some Distress Inks I have wanted for ages Mermaid Lagoon, Fossilized Amber in the mini set were not disappointing at all!

My motto "I color outside the lines!"
