It's Autumn Color Time at Delicious Doodles Is Fading Fast!

If you are living anywhere in my region you won't be seeing autumn colors at all!  We go from green to brown over night to bare branches! Thank goodness for our evergreens and no snow 😏!  So I enjoyed playing around with those gorgeous colors I have seen in the northeastern U.S. and just above me, Tennessee, and the staggering beauty of Japan in its fall!  I guess the point is if we don't have something we love happening how lucky we can paint, color, or collage it and pretend!  This month at Delicious Doodles Challenge we have a theme of Autumn Colors hence my verses above...makes a little more sense, not much, but a little!  I wanted to give you one last incentive to join us this month so without delay here are the fair Zodiac - Gemini twins along with the Pumpkin Corner (which has flourishes and dots really gorgeous I just had to fussy cut what I could) to celebrate the upcoming fall weather wherever it is or will occur!

I colored them up with Spectrum Noir markers which honestly do not blend nearly as well as Copics but I have the whole set so oh well!  Then I sprayed the page with a Gelato homemade spray using some yellow and orange Gelatos in a mister and shaking.  I had a weird little stamp that I rubbed orange Gelato onto and stamped in three places adding a bubble bead in the middle circle. Some crinkle edged scissors around them and same process with the Pumpkin Corner except I popped it up with some foam tape.  The background paper is my left over palette paper when I am painting acrylic canvases and I try to always have a paper on hand to brayer or scribble something onto for a different looking background for this purpose and a good head start on a journal page!  I cut the background larger of course and used the Tim Holtz tool to distress the edges of it.  All that was left was to attach my twins and pumpkin to the background.  I did use a tea spray by Heidi Swapp that glimmers like crazy and a burst of the same Gelato spray from the twins on the background to tie it all in a bit more.

We hope you will pop over to our Challenge, still a few days to show us your colors!  And don't forget to share with us on our Facebook fan page and visit the fabulous Delicious Doodles Etsy Store!  Halloween is right around that corner and there are some wonderfully ghoulish and creepy digital stamps as well as some awesomely beautiful images as well!

Celebrating National Dog Day and the Solar Eclipse with Dragons Lair Designs Digitally!

I wanted to play along with the third? I think challenge at Digitally Made as I am so happy to see challenges that accept or that or designated just for digital makes!  Some people do not see the challenge in making a totally digital make but being not very good with digital work I can surely appreciate those who are so talented with it!  It is truly a fabulous art form!  Off the soap box now and on to my make with my precious grandpups who weren't all that impressed with the buzz about the eclipse. One wanted to just sleep right through it, one wanted her chew toy and the entire bed to herself! and the other two's interest was peaked a bit but nothing further than a dog treat took them!  And NO they were not outside for the event for a second!  All were cozy and safe inside with toys and treats and Yoshi had his nap buddy, me! so all were well taken care of during the eclipse 😊

I used a collection from Dragons Lair Designs  which is sadly closing due to the owner's health but we pray for a speedy recovery and her return to her wonderful art!  There is also a CLOSING SALE  going on right now at the link above so please go have a look!  She has some amazing holiday kits, including Halloween and Christmas plus digital images and mini kits and quick pages!  This collection is

Summer Sunset Page Kit with FREE EXTRAs

and is on sale at less than half the regular price!  I love this and I picked the paper background because it looked like this:

So eclipsy (not a word I know!) to me but I wanted to used the frames that came with the kit so I ended up covering up the actual reason I picked it!  I still think the colors remind me of the sun so eclipse it shall stay!

Thanks to Yoshi, Girlie, Trick, and Leggo for being such adorable models that make each day a pleasure to craft about and talk to them about what I am doing and get such love from them!

Two Fat Pages with Alice and Queen of Hearts Grunge Collage from LeighSBDesigns

How I do love these grunge collages with Alice and the Queen of Hearts!  This morning I featured a notebook I made using them plus the Grunge Card Suite set you can get for free if you buy both Alice and the Queen!  Now I am showing you two fat pages I made with these same digital images!  And I can't forget to remind you that this weekend is a fun weekend for us at Markers! Paper! Digis! Facebook Group as LeighSBDesigns is the sponsor for the weekend!  Fun Stuff!!!

My background papers are made when I finish a painting and have paint left on my palette!  I just grab a paper and my brayer (bought on super sale don't know how I lived without it! lol) and scrap the paint up with a palette knife and plop on my paper then brayer it out until I like it!  I used some of Tim Holtz's ChitChat words and brass clip with a paperclip to compliment the background.  The two cards (yes, the diamond was partying under the bed but I sent Yosh under there to get it for me!) were watercolored in with the circle tool from my Gelato set made circles from watercolors and mixed media opaque and transparent colors.

Again, paint from my palette smashed about with my brayer with some black lace layered under the heart card and spade all made as above.  I added some little gold medallions my mom gave me a box of 500 given to her by her best friend!  So much of my stash has my mom written all over it because she always was on the market to buy or score me craft supplies and she always shared :)

The FREEBIE Wonderland Grunge Set can be found HERE and includes the Queen and Alice with the Grunge Card Suite included for free!  You can purchase the Grunge Card Suite alone HERE.

Stop by this weekend and say hi and LIKE Markers! Paper! Digis! and see what goodies we all have up sharing plus I hear of a 30% off coupon good for this weekend at the LeighSBDesigns Etsy Store!

Sunshine in Her Hair by LeighSBDesigns!

This digital image has about the most beautiful face I have seen on any!  You can see the sweetness yet joking side of this glowing young lady!  I made a small hanging tag for this weekend as LeighSBDesigns sponsors Markers! Paper! Digis!   Exciting for us and for you all we hope, too!  So on to the finished make of Sunshine in Her Hair!

Sunshine in Her Hair Hanging Tag

Tomorrow you will hear about how I make my background papers, however, this one is just a tad different as I didn't brayer my left over palette paint but used a huge brush to make huge red and orange poppies with green leaves and other colors smushed around!  I took yellow watercolors and dotted around the image and added some bronze bling to the corners.  She is colored with Prisma colored pencils and since she is holding the sunshine her personality pours out; I gave her pink hair my favorite color hair to color :)

Please come by and like Markers! Paper! Digis! and see our makes new and old  plus a 30% discount coupon has been mentioned from LeighSBDesigns fabulous Etsy Store!

Happy 4th of July with LeighSBDesigns New Releases!

I am not the only person who loves to OOO and AAAA at fireworks displays! LeighSBDesigns has created a friend for me to share fireworks with from now on! I embarrass my kids and anyone around me because I do it every single firework that is shot off!  I am warming up for my son's annual show for the 4th coming up on Thursday night as he has to work on the 4th :( but it will be awesome anyway!  This year I have Lil Miss Oddleigh July 4th to share in the ooo'ing and aaa'ing!  Yay!  So here is a warm up photo of some tests runs we did this weekend!

I colored her up in patriotic colors with my Spectrum Noir markers and scanned her into the computer to add to a digitally colored background and fireworks.  I honestly was not trying to be lazy but my neck problems have added a numb right thumb to my list of issues and fussy cutting..well, scissors in my hand cause an electric feeling shock when anything touches a spot on my thumb SO I had to leave my original plan of an acrylic painted sky and then my fireworks and Lil Miss Oddleigh 4th of July being added to it.  And believe it or not (if you know me you believe it! ) I just realized I could have done this same technique with my painted background :(  Oh well, another project for the 6th?  As Bob Ross always said a happy surprise instead of a sad mistake!

Check out the LeighSBDesigns Etsy Store for a discount (through 7/08/2017) on this fabulous digital image that includes:  a set of 4 images and comes with a cluster of bursting Fireworks and separate texts "oooooooo" and "aaaaaaaa".

This is an instant downloadable digi stamp set in 300+ resolution and contains 8 separate digi images without watermarks. Each image is provided in 2 file formats, jpg & png files, and are ready for you to resize as needed, print and colour with your favorite mediums for cards, ATCs, journal pages and more!

How fabulous is this?  So much to use to play and create awesome projects to share and keep for yourself you will be so impressed!

Monument Valley USA by LeighSBDesigns!

I am enjoying acrylic painting and watercolor painting (a little tricky for me still!) and this pen and ink drawing of Monument Valley USA by LeighSBDesigns was perfect for me to play with and use some digital play with it to keep from stressing my right hand.  I used watercolors, white acrylic paint, a white gel pen, and the stars from Lil Miss Oddleigh 4th of July.

I kept the painting strokes loose with the flag and fireworks as the main interests!  I am looking forward to being able to cut things out; I have some fabulous glitter paper that the fireworks will look so awesome made from!  But for now I will do things the way I can and not complain....well, not too much!

Check out the store, LeighSBDesigns Etsy, for all the total new releases and the recent ones that are discounted for a short while so grab 'em while on sale!

Happy 4th of July!

Welcome to the Smeared Ink Reunion Blog Hop!  I got started in all this craziness at Smeared and Smudged's 31 Days of Halloween in 2013 (pretty sure about the year).  So once again we are going to do some hopping and leaving some love for the fabulous makes we see!

A fat page using a stamp from the ATC set from SI...not sure of the name but stamped her and colored her up in fire then made a background on a fat page with acrylic paints.  I drew a volcano and a tree that sadly has also met the same fate as our poor lady!  A few words to describe the situation and this fabulous mixed media acrylic flow translucent paint over the words then attached.  The bat in the smoke above the volcano comes from the SI set "A Little Bit Batty".

Since I had the ATC set out I decided to make what else?  An ATC!  I love this one with the faces silently screaming as if walled up or frozen in fear!  I used a mixed media piece of paper left over from mopping up my craft mat and added some words...scrabble fashion!

This set also comes with an ATC card back stamp to list your goodies and pertinent info and I sprayed it some of the golden spray that was mopped up on the front of the index card.

I hope you have enjoyed the blogs today now off to go and finish up!  And leave that love for them xx

Beside the Sea Challenge at Delicious Doodles for July!

We are Beside the Sea this month at Delicious Doodles for our monthly challenge!  I love the beach so a happy theme for me!  I just love the little Beautiful Swimming Seahorses digital image at Delicious Doodles!  I love them so much they went in a fish bowl on my table....with a little seahorse food to sprinkle in when they get hungry :)

I colored the image the rounded it to fit in my bowl that I had drawn on 9 x 12 canvas paper.  Then I colored the background and shelf with acrylic paints making some bokeh bubbles for fun!  I had colored the image a week ago and luckily I had an acrylic paint that just matched it to paint the inside of the bowl.  I ran my highlights over the image to merge them into the bowl.  A little bottle of Delicious Doodles Seahorse Food and it was done!  I plan on putting it in my art journal and using with my (hopefully) beach photos for this summer.

I hope you will join us for our challenge this month!  Can't wait to visit your blog and see what you come up with!

#artifacts Journal Project of Seth Apter's

I signed on for the #artifacts journaling project for 2017 proposed by Seth Apter which much trepidation!  I am not known for my journaling skills but after a very emotionally draining 2016 thought that getting some things down on paper with art might help me on my way to healing.  So I am giving it a try although very far behind; I do enjoy the time I spend on it.  This month my page that spoke to me most was made with a pair of gorgeous rainbow eyes painted in acrylics on a canvas by the Art Sherpa on Youtube.  They seem to represent the tears of sadness and joy that have come my way in the last year and a half.

They also remind me of how people we know and strangers watch our journeys and make their own decisions about how we should and should not act.  This page seemed to sum it all up with a beautiful pair of eyes as the prize.  I used acrylic paints, stencils, washi stamp, die cuts and stamps.

I took this out of my 3 ring binder to photo it but it is now in place with my next favorite page that is a reminder of a cruise in February of 2016.  Watercolors and acrylic washes and layers.

And finishing up with another water motivated page...watch out little crab that octopus looks a bit hungry and already has a sticky tentacle on you!!  Watercolor paints, stencils and octopus die cut.

Hope you will join the quest plenty of time to catch up or start now....no rules!  One of my favorite things about it!

That's it for June!  Have a great July and journal it :)

Uh Oh! Oddleigh Mockingbird is Keeping LeighSBDesigns Awake Again!

The fantastic Leigh of LeighSBDesigns has had a little mockingbird problem for a couple of years now.  And this guy loves to keep her awake at night and has actually followed her during the day!  Yep, stalker mockinbird!  Well, meet Oddleigh Mockingbird, released with Lil Miss Oddleigh Dreaming of Sleep!

He comes with 4 digis, a cluster of 2 stars, a pile of fallen Zzzzz's, floating Zzzzz's that are hollow so you can make them any colour you want plus the same Zzzzz's in solid black too.

Those darts will keep your eyes wide open until dawn as I know for a fact!  Sleep and I have a terrible relationship!  I colored him with Prisma colored pencils and then used acrylic paint in purple and blue to give him a dark of the night look.  The Z's are colored with Spectrum Noir markers with lines added with a white gel pen.  Also used the gel pen to add some twinkle stars.

Check out the store of LeighSBDesigns at Etsy and see all of her awesome images!  This wonderful fellow is on sale for a short while so run carefully don't walk to get him and all the images that come with him!

Meet a Very Sleepy Lil Miss Oddleigh Dreaming of Sleep from LeighSBDesigns!

YAWN!  Never has a digital image reminded me of myself as much as Lil Miss Oddleigh Dreaming of  Sleep by LeighSBDesigns!  This fabulous image comes with three digital images!  And my fondness for her is our shared lack of sleep!  Apparently we both suffer from horrible insomnia so I have found my mirror image :)

She comes with 2 digis, a cluster of 4 stars and a thought bubble full of sleepy Zzzzzz's.

I colored her up with Prisma colored pencils and fussy cut leaving a small white line.  I used a piece of paper made for acrylic paints to paint a galaxy background (thanks Art Sherpa) and the zzz's bubble is Spectrum Noir markers with a Q-Tip dipped in alcohol to make some spots.  A white gell pen to make some really big sparkle stars and she is ready for a long night of no sleep!

I hope you will go by the fabulous shop of LeighSBDesigns at Etsy and check out all of the wonderfulness there and this beauty will be on sale for a short while so don't miss out!

It's June and Time for All Things Great and Small

I so love Teri's images at Delicious Doodles!  So much talent and so many gorgeous really gorgeous images!  I colored this one up for the June challenge with Prisma colored pencils.  I then painted some paper purple and green and make some water plants and cut and curl around a pencil.  Then some die cut doillies!

A few sea beads and she is set to have fun with her friends!  Marina the image is a delight to color!
